In a groundbreaking move, Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK), a prominent diamond manufacturing firm based in Surat, India, has taken a pioneering step in the diamond industry by joining the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). This milestone positions SRK as the first diamond company globally to commit to the SBTi’s rigorous emission reduction guidelines.
The SBTi, established in collaboration with influential organizations like the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), World Resources Institute (WRI), and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2015, is renowned as one of the world’s leading mechanisms for emissions reduction. It was crafted to drive ambitious climate action, aligning with the objectives outlined in the Paris Agreement, by empowering organizations to set science-based targets for emissions reduction.
SRK’s commitment to the SBTi entails the establishment of near-term science-based emission reduction targets. Remarkably, the company has pledged to achieve net-zero emissions for its diamond crafting facilities by the upcoming year.
SRK’s dedication to this initiative extends beyond emission reduction targets; the company is actively working on developing comprehensive action plans covering various aspects of its operations. These encompass corporate activities, product research and development, and supply chain management, among others.

He emphasized SRK’s honor in collaborating with global companies within the SBTi network, all of whom share the common goal of advancing towards a zero-emissions world.
